Faculty Who Care about Your Success

At WSU Spokane, you’ll study with such scholars as:

Nancy Clark Brown, an interior design professor—recognized by students for her excellence in teaching and advising—who maintains an active architectural practice and wins national awards for design described as “elegant in its simplicity” (SPP Journal, July 15, 2005; scroll to the bottom of the page).

Dennis Ray, head of a program that prepares over two-thirds of Washington State’s future school superintendents to lead educational change and improvement, thereby addressing the state's critical shortage of well-prepared administrators.

Ray is the recipient of one of the Washington Association of School Administrator’s highest honors.

Winsor Schmidt, the nation’s top authority on guardianship and mental health law. His work informs judges, legislators, and health, social service, and legal professionals. The ElderLaw Report states that

"Perhaps no one has studied guardianship, particularly public guardianship, more closely than Winsor Schmidt."

Bryan Vila, a nationally recognized expert on crime control and human performance issues and a former law enforcement officer. Before coming to WSU Spokane, Vila directed the Crime Control and Prevention Research Division of the National Institute of Justice—the research arm of the U.S. Department of Justice.

And these people don’t just talk to you from behind a lectern—they help you achieve your professional potential.
