Building Bridges Evaluation

The Washington State OSPI is contracting with WSU Spokane for statewide data collection, evaluation, and analysis of Building Bridges program.
AHEC staff will determine and analyze positive outcomes of the program, report to stakeholders on the effectiveness of the program, provide a framework for individual and statewide program improvement, and provide information on the procurement of other funding opportunities.
Council for Children and Families Evaluation
Washington Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect
The purpose of this contract is to develop an evaluation framework and initial plan to address outcomes in the Children’s Trust of Washington State effort to disseminate home visiting programs for at-risk young mothers in Washington State.
North Beach Student Improvement Science Program Evaluation
North Beach School District
This contract is for the evaluation of the North Beach School District’s Increasing Student Performance through Improved Science Instruction program. Goals include increasing teachers’ science content knowledge, the use of research-based instructional strategies, and students’ positive attitudes towards science, and improving student performance on the WASL.
These goals will be addressed by the program partners during a 40-hour summer institute and two two-day follow-up sessions. AHEC will evaluate the program through STAR observation protocols that program participants complete.
In addition, they will analyze de-identified group WASL scores for the five partner school districts to determine if change has occurred. They will also recommend an instrument to measure the attitude of students towards science, which is to be administered at the beginning and end of the academic year, and evaluate the resulting information.
Spokane County Child Trauma and Schools
Provide program consultation, program development, and training to address child trauma, particularly in school settings.
Spokane County Community Network Development
Spokane County Community Network
Awarded by a competitive bid, this contract has AHEC assume the management and development of the Spokane County Community Network.
The Washington State Family Policy Council funds community-managed networks to address local program development and capacity building, related to children at risk of a preventable social and health problems. These include child abuse and neglect, teen pregnancy, mental health disorders, and substance abuse.
AHEC will conduct this work under the programmatic oversight of a community board.
Summer's Project Evaluation
Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children & Families
This contract provides for the evaluation of Summer's Project, which strives to
- Prevent child abuse and neglect among low-income, first-time mothers in Spokane County,
- Foster and preserve healthy relationships and connections in participant families, and
- Increase the capacity of families to provide for their children's needs.
Trauma Sensitive Schools Design Contract
Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction
This contract is to develop a conceptual model for implementation of "trauma sensitive" practice into K–12 education. Children's exposure to complex trauma has emerged as a major explanatory concept for academic failure and school behavior problems.
AHEC will work with local school partners to analyze the systematic introduction of these concepts into schools, with the anticipation of moving to a demonstration program based on this development model.
Washington State Readiness to Learn (RTL) Program
