Description
Her
research interests focus in how inadequate calcium and magnesium intake
and excessive salt intake contribute to chronic diseases associated
with aging. These diseases include osteoporosis, hypertension, diabetes,
kidney stones and cardiovascular diseases. Teaching awards Dr Massey
has received include the 1996 Excellence in Clinical Practice and
research from the Washington State Dietetic Association and Research
Fellow of the WSU Health Research and Education Center. In 1996 she
received the faculty Excellence award for WSU Spokane. Massey was
Senior International research fellow from the National Institute
of Health for study at the University of British Columbia Medical
School in 1991. Massey was a national spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association and continues to be active in helping reporters
make scientific research findings understandable to consumers.
