  Overview
The mission of the Health Research and Education Center (HREC) is threefold:

 
to provide an infrastructure for research at Washington State
University in Spokane
   
to build a world-class biomedical research program in the
  health sciences
   
and to provide management of the laboratory facilities in the
  Health Sciences Building.

HREC has five support staff persons, 11,000+ square feet of state-of-the-art biomedical laboratory space, and currently supports several large federally funded research projects totaling more than $1.25M (FY ’03), with nearly $7M in pending federal grants.

The HREC at Washington State University Spokane provides laboratory and grant support for collaborative projects in such areas as cytogenetics, breast cancer, heart disease, human fertility, diabetes, and osteoporosis.
