The Health Research &
Education Center at WSU-Spokane provides an infrastructure for
biomedical research and the management of laboratory facilities. It has
a staff of five who are located in the Health Sciences Building at the
Riverpoint Campus. The staff of the Health Research & Education Center
support the current biomedical research both administratively and
operationally, from grant writing to equipment servicing. The Center
provides more than 11,000 square feet of biomedical laboratory space.
State-of-the-art equipment for genetics testing, fluorescent microscopy,
image analysis, cytometry, and spectrophotometry are housed within the
Center. It also currently supports several large research projects in
such areas as cytogenetics, breast cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and
congenital eye disorders.
