AHEC Goals:
Underline

    Arrow To serve as a bridge and resource between the university and communities to increase relevancy of academic programs to public needs, and to extend knowledge developed through research and instruction to support community needs.

    Arrow To improve access to appropriate health services in rural and underserved communities by supporting and enhancing local and regional health care systems.

    Arrow To respond to the health personnel recruitment and retention needs of rural and underserved communities through interdisciplinary education and training programs and support services.

    Arrow To advocate for and assist communities in identifying and conveying their recommendations for health policy which support rural health systems and enhance community health and well-being.

    Arrow To create and implement community development programs in collaboration with communities which address economic development, local infrastructure, leadership development and health services.
