Riverpoint Campus Library Book Exchange
Thanks to the Friends of the North Spokane County Library, you
can take away fiction or non-fiction books from our “Leisure
Reading” shelves. Bring it back when you’re done, or bring
something someone else might like to read. We’ll keep it up as
long as there are books to take! Shelves are on the east wall of
the second floor, behind the microfilm scanner. For more

Riverpoint Weight Watchers
The Riverpoint Weight Watchers added a new member on May
27—there is still time to join the group that meets each Tuesday
at noon through August 19. These 17 determined souls are
collectively losing about 25 pounds a week—27.6 on the 27th! It
could be you; what do you have to lose? If you are interested,

Reception for WSU Provost and Executive Vice President Robert C.
Bates
President Elson S. Floyd invites the Washington State University
community to a reception for Robert C. Bates in appreciation for
his service as Provost and Executive Vice President. Tuesday,
June 3, 2008, 3 - 5 p.m. in the Lewis Alumni Centre Great Hall.

WWAMI Science in Medicine for Staff
Genetics, Race and Medicine
Mary-Claire King, Ph.D.,
the featured speaker for the WWAMI Science in Medicine for Staff
Lecture on Wednesday, June 4 from noon to 1 p.m.
is the American Cancer Society
professor in the Departments of Medicine (Medical Genetics) and
Genome Sciences at the University of Washington School of
Medicine. Her lecture will address the identification and
characterization of critical genes in informative families and
populations. She is interested in disentangling heterogeneous
genetic influences and understanding the interaction between
genetic and environmental influences on these traits.
This lecture will be video televised from the University of
Washington to the Riverpoint Campus Academic Center room 249

in the Community Back-To-School Supply Drive
Unity in the Community is sponsoring its annual Back-To-School
Supply Drive and the Riverpoint Campus is one of the collection
sites. Please join us in supporting Spokane area youth attending
grades K-8 and drop off school supplies in the Academic Center
first floor lobby just outside the window of the Student Affairs

WSU Spokane CityLab Young Women’s Summer Science Camp:
The Secrets of CSI
We're
offering an exciting, CSI-themed science camp this summer at the
Riverpoint Campus for girls entering the sixth to eighth grades.
Get on your super sleuth's hat and get ready to solve the crime
of the year! All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls are invited to
register now for June 23-27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The
registration fee is $150.00 which includes
lab materials, a T-shirt, a day trip to WSU Pullman, and an
afternoon climbing at Wild Walls. For

Free Training Opportunity
Join the Illinois Regional Institute for Community Policing &
the American Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) & the Western Regional Institute for
Community Oriented Public Safety on June 19 for a free training
opportunity. Presenters Matthew Martyn, Charlene Moe, and
Commander Mark Bridges will address specific fundamental
concepts and skills associated in developing a coordinated local
response that will help alleviate the panic of crisis and
minimize the consequences of disasters that affect animal
populations and human populations in order to return the
jurisdiction to normal as quickly as possible following a major
disaster or incident. This training session will take place on
the Riverpoint Campus in the Academic Center room 241 from 8:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m.To register for this FREE training opportunity,
