When does the Spokane Center Higher
Education Building close?
The Spokane Center closed fall quarter
2007.
Is there a buyer for the building?
The building has been sold for $3.4
million to Real Estate Advisory
Services, Inc. of Portland, Ore.
Where will students park?
In campus lots, for which buying a
permit will be necessary. Permits may
be purchased in the Parking Services
office in the South Campus Facility
(the building that houses the WSU
Bookie, on the south side of Spokane
Falls Blvd.).
Please be aware that the owners of the
Schade Tower and the building at 534 E.
Spokane Falls Blvd. police their lots
actively, and people who park in those
lots and walk across Spokane Falls
Blvd. to campus buildings are apt to
find their cars towed.
Where will guests park?
One-hour parking available on
Riverpoint Blvd. is patrolled by the
City of Spokane.
Campus policy is that all visitors
attending an event or meeting on campus
must have a parking permit or use a
meter to park in campus lots.
Those visiting campus can obtain a
scratch-off parking permit for
dashboards at a cost that varies
depending on which lots they want to
park in, and whether they purchase a
one-day pass or a 10-day pass. More
information.
Permits can be purchased by contacting
Parking Services, rpparking@wsu.edu,
and then mailed (or e-mailed, for the
e-pass) to attendees to place on their
dashboards. This process works well for
gatherings such as meetings of our
various board members or outside groups
when we know who is attending.
The south campus yellow lot now has a
multi-spaced pay station (“pay
and display”). Rates will
match the meters. The advantage
over a meter is that you can purchase
parking with coin, bills, and
debit/credit cards. The machine
prints out a ticket that you stick to
the inside of your window.
A bulk rate for one-day e-passes at $1
each is available only for
department/university sponsored events
such as a conference, large meeting, or
special class. It is purchased by
EWU departments through an inter-agency
transfer. It is not intended for
individual visitors or for small
meetings of one or two participants;
those visitors should be directed to
the meters or purchase a scratch-off
permit at Parking Services. E-passes
provide a campus map and driving
directions.
The Washington Administrative Code does
not allow the universities to provide
“free” parking. On
rare occasions and for limited periods
of time parking enforcement has been
waived for large-scale, public events
when the universities do not know in
advance who is attending and in cases
when enforcement would create poor
relations with community members
invited to campus. Waived enforcement
is limited to a short list of
activities such as groundbreaking,
dedications, commencement,
congressional town hall meetings, and a
large-scale activity that has no
advance communication mechanism to
explain the parking system or
distribute passes
Where will students sign up for
classes?

package pick-up and delivery, special
handling services?
This is one of the operational issues
that will be resolved the first week or
so of school. Workers are in the
process of creating room for mail
slots, but there will be an all-tenant
meeting where a comprehensive list will
be made and presented to Ron Dalla.

What is the format for mailing and
shipping addresses in Riverpoint Campus
buildings?
The mailing address will be:

Spokane, WA 99202

What are the policies/rules about
decorating offices, hanging notices and
flyers, etc.?
To post items on public bulletin
boards: Boards that have a sign that
says “for Student Affairs use
only” need approval from Student
Affairs staff in the Academic Center.
Other public area bulletin boards are
fine for people to post on. You are
asked to help keep bulletin boards
useable by removing items that are past
their useful life.
In public or common areas: Do not post
on walls, doors, and other surfaces.
In your office: Contact Facilities
Operations for assistance to determine
appropriate hanging mechanism to
support your artwork without damaging
walls.

Where can I get information on
Riverpoint Campus in general?

campus. It includes links to parking
information, event calendars, room
reservation forms, and other

What are construction plans for more
buildings at Riverpoint?
The 2007/2009 biennium will include the
pre-design and design phase for the
next building to be constructed at
Riverpoint. Funding for these phases
will come from the sale of the current
Spokane Center Higher Education
Building.
A campus master plan update will be
developed during 2007–2008, along
with detailed academic plans; both will
help shape future building requests. A
legislative request for construction
funding goes through the process
followed for all capital construction
projects, in which the four-year
college/university presidents
prioritize a master list of projects
statewide and support each
other’s projects as prioritized.
