Joan Menzies has served as the director of Student Affairs for WSU Spokane since 1996. Prior to that, she acted as assistant dean of students, conduct administrator, associate director of orientation, and interim director of new student orientation at WSU Pullman (1991–1996) and held other Student Affairs positions (1984–1991).
Menzies serves on various university and community organizations, including
the WSU Commission on the Status of Women, the Spokane Regional Task Force on
Human Relations, and the planning committee for the Inland Northwest Women's
Leadership Conference. She holds degrees from California State University,
Fullerton, and California State Polytechnic University, and has completed
training in conflict mediation. Menzies belongs to the Inland Northwest Service
Learning Partnership and the National Association of Student Personnel
Administrators. She has authored and presented numerous workshops on student
ethical development, community-building on college campuses, and managing
change.
