NOTEWORTHY
David
Brody, assistant professor, criminal justice, and criminal justice graduate
student Heidee McMillin have had an article titled "Pregnancy Testing and
Prenatal Care for Pregnant Probationers: A Legal Analysis of a Common Sense
Policy" published in the Criminal Law Bulletin Spring
2001.
Joanna Ellington, director of biomedical development
for WSU Spokane, has co-authored with Wilker, C.E., “Reproductive Toxicology of
the Male Companion Animal,” and “Reproductive Toxicology of the Female Companion
Animal,” chapters in Small Animal Toxicology, ed. P. Talcott, WB
Saunders, 2000.
Ellington and Sylvia Adams Oliver,
assistant director, Health Research and Education Center, hold the following
recently approved patents:
· Methods and composition to improve germ cell and embryo
function. (10/31/00 as US Patent #6,140,121).
· Composition of arabinogalactan in a sperm wash. (1/9/01
as US Patent #6,171,778)
· Methods and compositions to improve germ cell and embryo
survival and function. (11/30/00 as Aus Pat #723170).
The company headed
by Ellington and Oliver has recently reorganized. Formerly known
as Advanced Reproduction Technologies, it is now OriGyn Technologies,
LLC. The restructuring reflects the company’s product development in new
markets outside the infertility industry, which had been the core of the
company. The company has ten other patents pending, internally and in the U.S.,
in addition to the three listed above.
Jolene Spratt,
graduate student in health policy and administration, has been named to the
committee that selects students to recommend to the governor for the student
regent appointment. This may be the first time non-Pullman representation has
been on the selection committee. They'll forward three names to the governor (it
can be a student from any campus).
