Getting Started for Students
Welcome to Blackboard@WSU. If you are a Riverpoint student, use your network ID for username, and network ID for password. If you are an ICN student, check this FAQ page. Here are the directions for logging in:

Browse to: http://www.blackboard.wsu.edu and use your student network ID (same as what is before your @wsu.edu address), and your network ID password to get in Blackboard, then search for your course under the courses tab and click the enroll button to the right. If don't know or have a network ID yet, you can go to the myWSU portal to create one or look up your existing ID (using your student ID on the cougcard): http://my.wsu.edu/
Please don't use special characters (
) when you upload documents to Blackboard as well as compress the images in your documents.

How to Edit Your Personal Information
The Personal Information area is used to update your contact information, change your password, set up your CD-ROM drive for use with Blackboard, and set privacy options, determining what information is available to whom. From the My Institution area (the first page that opens up when you enter log-in):1. Click the personal information link in the tools section to the left when you enter Blackboard.
Editing Personal Information
1. Click the edit personal information link.
2. Input or edit your
personal information area.
3. Input or edit your other information area.
Changing Your Password
4. Click the change password link.
5. Enter your new password in the
password field.
6. Re-enter the new password in the verify
password field.
Setting Your CD-ROM Drive
7. Click the set CD-ROM drive
link
8. For a Windows machine, select the drive letter of the CD-ROM drive from the
drop down menu.
9. For a Macintosh, enter the name of the CD-ROM that will be used in your course
or organization in the text field.
Setting Your Privacy Options
10. Click the
set privacy options link.
11. Input or edit your personal information.
12. Input or edit your
user directory status.
13. Scroll down tot he bottom of the page and click the
submit button.

Q: If I fill in the personal information fields (e-mail address, birthday,
gender,
address), to whom will it be visible?
A: It depends on your privacy settings. At a minimum, your name will be
visible to the instructor of your courses, and if the Class Roster has been
enabled to 5.5 Compatible students, your name will be visible to other students
in your course. In addition, your email address will be listed next to all of
your discussion board postings, unless you post anonymously. Finally, your
personal information is always visible to system administrators. At a maximum,
all of your contact information can be made available to all users of the
system, by choosing to be listed in the user directory and choosing to list all
of your personal information. Follow the directions for Setting your Privacy
Options above to determine what information is available.
Getting Started for Faculty
- First you will need a Blackboard account, send WSU Riverpoint helpdesk an email requesting access to Blackboard. Please include your network ID, which if you have a wsu email address is the part before the @wsu.edu, in the case of doeJ@wsu.edu the network ID is doej
- Request a course
- Send a list of preferably all students in your department to the
helpdesk, spok.it.help@wsu.edu in the following format in an excell spreadsheet
or tab delimited text file (ask your
academic coordinator or secretary if you need help):
Column 1, Column 2, Column 3, Column 4

- If you have outside users who you want to enroll on
Blackboard, you will need to direct them first to create their own FID's or Friend ID's

Once they have created their own FID, they need to pass those on to you or your assistant, so you can put them all into an excel spreadsheet, with their FID in the first column, Last name, first name and password columns. Then email us this spreadsheet and we'll get the new users enrolled.

How to make my course available or unavailable
- To make your courses unavailable or available, simply go to the
course you want to change.
- Click on the control panel
- Click on settings (under course options in the lower left)
- Click on Course Availability, select your choice and submit.
