The Nursing Building will be constructed south of the Health Sciences Building and near the Academic Center, on the Riverpoint Campus.
The facility will be within walking distance of the major hospital and medical complexes on Spokane's South Hill. It will house distance learning classrooms, nursing practice labs, clinical simulation labs, video production and editing facilities, computer and multimedia laboratories and classrooms, research team space, research laboratories, and offices.
The new nursing building will allow the WSU Intercollegiate College of Nursing to significantly increase the number of students it serves, given sufficient operating funds to support expanded enrollments. The nearby Academic Center will provide much needed library services, general-purpose classrooms, and student service and support spaces.
This facility will help WSU stay a leader in preparing nurses to meet America's health care needs. It will expand the knowledge base of health care practice, and enhance WSU Spokane’s strategic emphasis on biomedical research.
Construction began in Fall 2006. Graham Construction (Spokane) is the GC/CM for the project. Integrus Architecture (Spokane) is the prime consultant.
