Master Degrees in Educational Leadership
The Master Degrees in Educational Leadership are designed to prepare professionals capable of providing effective leadership for curricular and instructional programs in K-12 schools, higher education, and other educational settings (e.g., business, industry, military, health professions, etc.). Students may select one of two degrees: The Master of Arts and the Master of Education.
Master of Arts Degree (M.A.)
The Master of Arts Degree offers a research oriented program of study for students desiring professional preparation in educational leadership. Students who intend to pursue a doctoral degree are encouraged to pursue this option given its emphasis of preparatory knowledge and skills of scientific investigation. the M.A. requires a minimum of 30 semester hours of approved graduate credit. Nine of these hours are dedicated to thesis research. The M.A. requires a written thesis that describes a student conducted project of inquiry.
Master of Education Degree (Ed.M.)
The Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership concentrates the academic experience of professionals preparing in leadership to assess and apply research findings. Students enroll in research courses and engage in research endeavors. The program of study requires a minimum of 35 semester hours of approved graduate credit and a final six-hour competency examination.
