Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership
The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) offered by WSU's College of Education features coursework that is available on the Spokane campus.
The Ed.D. in educational leadership is designed to prepare students whose primary interest is in the practice of education as K-12 administrators and is typically taken by those who will occupy positions of leadership and applied specialties in public or private educational organizations or related fields. The Ed.D. requires 72 credits of coursework; 42 of those credits must be in graded coursework. A preliminary examination must be successfully passed, a dissertation study must be planned and carried out, and an oral defense of the dissertation must be passed.

Statewide Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in
Educational Leadership
We are pleased to announce the WSU statewide Ed.D. which serves educators throughout Washington State through program offerings at all four WSU campuses. This is a cohort-based program focusing on the themes of collaborative leadership and school improvement. Program participants specialize in educational leadership, and many students completing the field-based principal's and superintendent's certification programs go on to apply credits earned in those programs to the Ed.D.

Doctoral degree in education with a different area of specialization?
If you are interested in pursuing a doctoral degree in a field of education other than educational leadership as described above, or if you are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in education, please note that many, if not all, of the core classes are available on the Spokane campus. For some areas, travel and coordination with our Pullman campus would be required.
