Teaching Endorsements

WSU is pleased to make select teaching endorsement programs available with coursework on the Spokane campus.

Endorsement programs available in Spokane

WSU Spokane offeres endorsement opportunities for practicing educators. For detailed information about endorsement requirements visit the College of Education Student Services web pages. (Please note, navigating to these pages will lead you away from the WSU Spokane web pages.)

English Language Learners — Online through WSU Distance Degree Programs

The endorsement is added to an existing valid teaching certificate. The ELL Endorsement consists of 18 semester hours, including a practicum in your linguistically diverse educational setting. Coursework for the ELL Endorsement may be applied to the C&I master's degree on the Spokane campus. (This course is offered online from the Pullman campus. Middle Level Math Endorsement

The Middle Level Math endorsement program is designed for new and experienced teachers who wish to add additional endorsement or expertise in middle level mathematics to their current certification. Some coursework for the Middle Level Math Endorsement may be applied to the C&I master's degree on the Spokane campus.

Reading Endorsement

The Reading Endorsement provides the skills and strategies necessary for those who wish to increase dramatically their knowledge of the teaching of reading. Candidates must complete 13 credits (in addition to meeting program prerequisites) and pass the WEST-E assessment. Reading endorsement courses may be applied to the C&I master's degree on the Spokane campus.

Special Education — Online, and AMS Videoconference instruction

Includes 31 semester credits and provides the skills and knowledge required for those who want to teach students with special needs at grades P-12. Graduate courses for the endorsement may be applied to the C&I master's degree on the Spokane campus.(Please note: navigating to this site will take you away from the WSU Spokane web pages.)

Pathway 2 Endorsements

Pathway 2 involves passing the WEST-E and a college-administered pedagogy assessment in the endorsement being added. (Please note, navigating to this site will take you away from the WSU Spokane web pages.)
