Preparation and Admission to WSU
Early advising may decrease your time to graduation: we highly recommend it.
- WSU Spokane offers only upper-division and graduate courses. Consequently, before enrolling in the program, you must complete at least 60 semester credits (with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher) of freshman and sophomore courses, including all lower-division General Education Requirements (GERs). These credits may be taken at another WSU campus or a community college.
- As you plan your freshman and sophomore years, take as much coursework as possible aimed at enhancing written and verbal communication skills. These skills are extremely important in leadership development. Students who write well and who have effective verbal communication skills tend to do best in our program.
- Important note: Since the BA in Leadership and Professional Studies is located in the College of Liberal Arts, students entering students are expected to complete additional General Education Requirements (GERs), including one year of a foreign language and an additional science course with a lab. See the "General Information" section of the online WSU catalog for details.
For more detailed information on the courses required for transfer to this program, contact the WSU Spokane advisor at enroll@wsu.edu or 509.358.7537.
Admission Requirements
- Acceptance requires an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from a community college or completion of all lower-division coursework (including most General Education Requirements) at WSU Pullman or another accredited institution.
- The AA will "direct transfer" as 60 semester credits, including the completion of all lower-division general education requirements. Note, however, that additional science and foreign language credit may be required.
- Faculty will review your transfer transcripts to ensure you're ready to enter into the upper-division coursework. Up to 73 approved semester credits (110 quarter credits) may be transferred to WSU from a community college.
How to Apply
If you've met the above requirements by the time you enroll in the program, you may apply to WSU Spokane. Although applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, we encourage you to apply by early spring for fall semester admission to allow time to make up any prerequisite deficiencies, if necessary.- Complete an undergraduate application for admission, online or by mail. Printable applications are available online or through Student Affairs (509.358.7537 or enroll@wsu.edu).
- Include a $50 nonrefundable application fee with your application.
- Arrange to have official transcripts sent directly from each college or university attended, showing work completed at the time of application. Final and complete transcripts must be submitted prior to your initial enrollment.
You may apply at any time; we accept students year-round. Likewise, you may attend full- or part-time and can begin the program in the fall or spring semester.
