Faculty research interests include the following:

  • Muscle physiology
  • Exercise immunology
  • Immune modulation by alcohol
  • Muscle damage and repair
  • Angiogenesis (new blood vessel growth)
  • Microcirculation
  • Endothelial biology
  • Oxygen transport to tissue
  • Hemodynamic, cardiorespiratory and microcirculatory effects of exercise hypoxia, and other stressors
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Exercise and alternative medicine
  • Effects of exercise on conditions such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
  • Dietary factors and diabetes and heart disease cellular processes
