  Financing Your Education
Although WSU Spokane students have their aid packaged at the main campus in Pullman, Liz West (509 358-7534, weste@wsu.edu) is the local contact for financial aid at WSU Spokane.  Liz is located in the Student Services office in the Academic Center Suite 130.

Eligibility & Application
To qualify for any type of aid, including grants, work-study, or loans, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Priority deadline is March 1 to apply for the following fall term.

Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six undergraduate or five graduate credits as a degree-seeking or certificate-seeking student to qualify for financial aid.  For more information please visit the Student Services Financial Aid page.

Graduate Assistantships
Students awarded graduate assistantships are usually offered a stipend and/or a tuition waiver (depending on availability of funds) in return for a set amount of hours of work per week (10-20 depending on award).  As employees, they are expected to meet the obligations assigned, whether they involve teaching, research, or other support work.

Graduate assistantships are awarded each year based on merit, decided through a competition among new and returning graduate students who have either applied for, or been nominated for assistantship consideration.  Students receiving assistantships usually have grade point averages at 3.5 or above and unusually strong references.

Prospective students may apply for assistantship at the same time as they apply for entrance into the graduate program.  The assistantship application is a part of the hard copy or on-line application packet through the Graduate School.  Application materials must be received by March 1 for assistantship consideration.
