It’s a combination used by Washington State University Spokane professors to ensure the success of their students.

Coyne and StudentTake Joseph Coyne, DrPH, professor of health policy and administration. Dr. Coyne is recognized as a national and international leader in health care finance, and brings that expertise to his graduate students in the classroom.

The 2000 and 2002 recipient of the International Awards Program at WSU for internationalizing the health care finance curriculum, Dr. Coyne served as guest lecturer of health care finance at Beijing Medical University summer 2001.

Dr. Coyne provides health care finance expertise as a consultant to the health systems of other countries, from France, Italy, and Germany, to Denmark, Mexico, and China. He is the author of Financial Growth and Diversification of Hospitals and Multihospital Systems. His works regularly appear in top health and hospital administration journals and are cited in textbooks by scholars from around the world.

"Through a collection of experience in the professional world and teaching what works and what doesn't, I try to not only teach the theory but the practice in my specialty areas of health care finance, accounting, decision science, and international healthcare," says Dr. Coyne.

Washington State University Spokane students learn in small, seminar-sized classes, engaged one-on-one with internationally renowned scholars such as Professor Coyne. It's just one of the reasons students choose WSU Spokane.
