Description:

It’s Hoopfest weekend and this is a message to help you plan ahead for your parking needs on the Riverpoint Campus.

This weekend beginning Saturday, June 27 at 7 a.m. and ending Sunday June 28 at 7 p.m., the parking lots on the Riverpoint Campus will be a part of the STA Hoop Loop Park and Ride system for Hoopfest. If you have classes this weekend or plan to come to campus for work, please plan to arrive early to find a place to park.

Local Revitalization Area Community Meeting

for Spokane's University District

Wednesday, July 1 from 6-8 p.m.

Riverpoint Campus, Nursing Building room 105

103 E Spokane Falls Blvd.

Description:

The City of Spokane is proposing a Local Revitalization Area for the University District. The state’s Local Revitalization mechanism promotes economic development through the provision of needed infrastructure, streetscape improvements, environmental remediation, and other projects as allowed by legislation. The City is seeking input on the proposed projects and boundary as well as the overall proposal.  You are encouraged to attend one of the Community Meetings to ask questions and provide input.

Coming to campus:

- STA route #29 serves the Riverpoint Campus.

- Bike racks located next to each building.

- Parking available (cash only) at Pay & Display lot next to South Campus Facility or campus meters

Independence Day

Description:

University District Art Fair

When:

Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where:

Near Peters and Sons' at 512 E. Pacific Avenue

Description:

Plan to spend some time in the University District on for the first annual University District Art Fair! The art fair, organized by Peters and Sons and Pacific Flyway Gallery, will feature twenty-four local artists.

29th National Veterans Wheelchair Games

Roll'n on the River

When:

Monday, July 13-Saturday July 18

Where:

Various locations throughout Spokane

Description:

Spokane is hosting the 29th National Veterans Wheelchair Games - Roll’n on the River to be held Monday July 13 – Saturday July 18, 2009. This is a multi-event sports and rehabilitation program for military service veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition due to spinal cord injuries, amputations or certain neurological problems. The various games will be taking place all around Spokane. This event is in need of volunteers; volunteer times are in 2 or 4 hour blocks starting on Sunday, July 12, 2009.

Description:

Join fellow Cougars for a day of fun in the sun at Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach Water Park! We are offering a great deal on package tickets which includes park entry, dinner, unlimited Pepsi product refills, and entry into a raffle drawing. A park ticket which admits entry into the park only is also available for purchase. This event is open to all ages, Coug Alum, friends, and faculty. We hope to see you there!

Yoga (Summer Session)

Cost:

Cost: $56 ($4.00 per class). It helps with bookkeeping if you pay at the beginning of the session.

Description:

Gentle yoga class for beginners and beyond. Take a break from work and refocus as you join your colleagues for an hour of stretching and relaxation on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Unity in the Community School Supply Drive

When:

Monday, June 22-Friday, August 7

Where:

Drop-off container located on the Riverpoint Campus, Academic Center, Student Affairs Office (first floor)

Description:

It's time again to help out with the Unity in the Community Annual School Supply Drive.  This is a wonderful way to support the children of our community and to connect WSU Spokane to our area students.  

Click here for the supply list. Some items that they ran short of last year:  K-4 blunt-end scissors, Grade 5-6 scissors & protractors, K-2 larger supply boxes to hold pencils, crayons & markers; combination padlocks, black & white composition books, and calculators.  And of course backpacks are always welcome.

The Unity in the Community event will be on Saturday, August 15th from 10:00-4:00 in Riverfront Park.  WSU Spokane will be hosting a table again this year.

Spokane Community Network Meeting

3rd Wednesday of each month from 3-5:30 p.m.

Description:

The Spokane Community Network is a state family policy council that is responsible for community development planning related to at-risk children. The meetings will include discussion on a variety of topics related to supporting at-risk children in the Spokane community and the state of Washington. The Spokane Community Network meeting is open to the public.

Riverpoint Campus Book Exchange

As long as there are books to take!

Riverpoint Campus Library, Academic Center, 600 N Riverpoint Blvd.

Description:

Thanks to the Friends of the North Spokane County Library, you can take away fiction or non-fiction books from our “Leisure Reading” shelves. Bring it back when you are done, or bring something someone else might like to read. Shelves are on the east wall of the second floor (main library floor).
