Clinical & experimental Exercise Science graduate program
WSU Spokane offers the only research-based Exercise Science graduate program in Washington State that focuses on clinical and experimental exercise physiology with an emphasis on cellular and molecular mechanisms.
- The core curriculum provides a foundation in the study of the cellular mechanisms that regulate physiological responses to exercise and the molecular mechanisms that govern these cellular responses.
- Research methods and statistics courses provide preparatory study in research design and analysis for future project/thesis work.
Career preparation
Students may choose from thesis or non-thesis options.
- The thesis option provides research training in exercise physiology with emphasis in either cellular or clinical physiology. It also serves as preparation for a doctoral program.
- The non-thesis option includes courses and an internship that prepare students for testing and certification in clinical exercise physiology by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). It provides education in exercise prescription and delivery of preventive/rehabilitative exercise programs. An eleven-credit graduate certificate is also available.
