Graduate Program in

Criminal Justice

Students

There are currently 20 full-time and part-time MA students and three students pursuing their doctorates in Criminal Justice at WSU Spokane. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds: traditional students coming straight from earning their bachelors degrees; professionals pursuing a graduate degree for career advancement; and returning students who are seeking a new career.

Some of our students have consented to having their research and academic interests featured on this page:

Sean McCormick

Mr. McCormick joined the Criminal Justice Master’s Program at WSU Spokane after completing his BA in Business at Montana State University in May 2005. He is studying police accountability with the use of GIS. He hopes to write his thesis on whether police accountability with the use of GIS is successful in decreasing problematic crimes.

Melinda York

Ms. York began the Criminal Justice Master’s Program at WSU in the fall of 2003. In spring 2005, she graduated with a MA in Criminal Justice. Currently, she is a PhD student studying criminal law, courts, gender issues, and intimate partner violence and homicide. Her dissertation will address gender attitudes and violence against women using the Stowell Datasets.

Student Perspectives

“The Criminal Justice program at WSU Spokane is challenging, flexible, and allows students to explore their interests in a wide variety of criminal justice-related topics. There are also many opportunities afforded to students to get real life criminal justice experience in the local community and throughout the state.”
